Kongsberg RCU501 Remote Controller Unit
RCU501 is a high-performance real-time marine process control computer developed by Kongsberg Norway, built on PowerPC embedded processor architecture. It serves as distributed master controller for ship dynamic positioning, thruster propulsion and offshore safety systems, collecting analog & digital field signals and executing closed-loop positioning & interlock control logic. It supports redundant dual network architecture to meet marine safety SIL requirements.

This obsolete marine controller is critical spare inventory for offshore platforms, drilling vessels and merchant ship automation refits. It features fully isolated multi-type communication ports, built-in self-diagnosis, and rugged aluminum housing resistant to vibration, humidity and corrosive marine atmosphere, certified for Ex Zone 2 hazardous cabinet installation.

Core Functions
- Real-time signal acquisition of ship position, heading, thruster pressure and temperature sensors for dynamic positioning calculation.
- Dual redundant Ethernet and RedundancyNet automatically switch communication links to avoid DP system positioning failure caused by single network breakdown.
- Multi-protocol bus gateway integrates third-party inverters, navigation instruments and fire & gas monitoring equipment into unified control network.
- Execute safety interlock logic for offshore emergency shutdown, over-speed protection and marine hazardous gas alarm output.
- RBUS remote I/O bus realizes long-distance distributed signal collection, reducing cable layout workload on large vessels and platforms.
- Comprehensive hardware & channel self-diagnosis locates communication disconnection, sensor wire break and module power faults via front panel indicators.
